Dental Crowns
Broken or decayed teeth can cause discomfort, interfere with dental function, and make you feel self-conscious about your smile.
Dental crowns are a type of dental work that can improve the health and appearance of damaged teeth.
Dr. Jose Valenzuela offers custom crowns at his Los Algodones, Mexico, dental clinic for a fraction of the cost compared to the U.S.
What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown (also referred to as a dental cap) fits over a broken tooth to protect it from damage and minimize sensitivity. Porcelain and zirconia crowns are durable and incredibly lifelike. In fact, they are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
You could benefit from a dental crown at our Algodones, Mexico, practice if you have:
- Severe decay
- A tooth that offsets your bite
- A cracked tooth
- A worn tooth
- A missing tooth
- A need for root canal therapy
How Is a Crown Placed?
Dr. Valenzuela prides himself on taking the utmost care with each and every patient.
Same-Day Dental Crowns
Instead of waiting two weeks for a traditional crown to be made, our Los Algodones office in Mexico has CAD/CAM technology that allows us to create same-day porcelain crowns. This means you won't have to wear a temporary crown or wait for your crown to be created in a lab.
Keep in mind that zirconia crowns take longer to create than porcelain. You and your dentist can determine which material is best for your needs.
A same-day crown at our Los Algodones, Mexico, dental clinic typically costs between $450 and $850. In contrast, a porcelain crown made at a laboratory in the United States can cost anywhere between $800 and $3,000.

Implant-Supported Crowns
If you have missing teeth, consider having implant-supported crowns placed. This option is better than traditional bridges because even though bridges replace the visible portion of missing teeth, they don't replace tooth roots.
At our office in Los Algodones, Mexico, we can place dental implants at the site of missing or extracted teeth. These dental implants can then support a dental crown, filling the gap and restoring your smile and dental function. Dental implants also stimulate your jawbone, stopping the atrophy that results from tooth loss.

Crown Lengthening
Crown lengthening can be used for aesthetic purposes, but it might also be necessary prior to crown placement.
In order to support a crown, a sufficient amount of your tooth must be intact. Crown lengthening with our dentist in Algodones removes gum tissue to expose more of your tooth above the gumline. In some instances, some bone tissue may also have to be removed. This will allow for the placement of a crown if your tooth is broken or was affected by decay.

At Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry Center in Los Algodones, Mexico, we are committed to providing affordable treatment options to patients in Mexicali and surrounding areas. At the same time, our dentists can offer you the same dental care you would receive in the United States for a fraction of the cost.
