Dental Implants – The Ideal Candidates for Smile Restoration

Dentists today are able to repair and replace teeth by using a dental implant. These implants can be installed on almost any patient and will provide them with a beautiful smile. However, children should not have implants installed because their bones are still growing. Doing so, could cause problems with the implant in the future.

Individuals that have live with missing teeth have found great joy from dental implants. A dentist is able to reconstruct the look, feel and function of the teeth the individual is currently missing by inserting these dental implants and covering them with dental crowns. Dentists are also able to help individuals that are losing teeth due to bone loss, so that they do not have to suffer the embarrassment of not having teeth by installing dental implants.

Dental implants have seen significant improvements over the years. These days, implants are mainly made of light weight titanium. The implants are shaped in the form of a peg or post that are usually threaded like a screw. In order for the implant to be properly installed into a patient's jaw, the dentist will have to drill a pilot hole. Once the hole is complete, the implant is installed into the bone and the gums are then stitched up.

Once that is complete, the healing process will begin. The jawbone will have to accept the implant as becoming a part of the bone in order for it to last. Once the healing process is complete and the implant is accepted, the dentist will be able to install the new tooth using the implant as the framework. Dental implants are also used to keep dentures and other removable mouth pieces in place.

The ideal candidate for implant dentistry is any adult that is looking to have their teeth corrected. By having an implant installed in your mouth, the dentist will be able to fix your smile so that you can gain back your confidence.
